Item #: SCP-8883
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Although small animals are unaffected by SCP-8883, larger animals may be exposed to the vibrations of SCP-8883 via its attached audio devices if a containment instance is brought within 15m of the area.
In the event that SCP-8883 is moved into a containment area, the entrance to the area should be guarded by a party of Foundation-sanctioned mercenaries until it is confirmed that no damage has been done. Percussion grenades are to be used to drive the organism back.
In the event of a containment breach, personnel is to be brought to the area and suppressed with SCP-1179B until a containment breach response team can be contacted. Thereafter, SCP-1179B is to be administered and SCP-8883 is to be secured in a containment cell.
Description: SCP-8883 is a substance located near the intersection of █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █ █

Any sound emanating from SCP-8883 will cause an adverse reaction in animals as large as dogs and possibly larger. The reaction is characterized by excessive panting, salivating, yawning, and tremors, as well as a disorienting sensation of acceleration which is likened to an acceleration similar to that of an improperly-closed airplane cockpit.
When an animal is exposed to SCP-8883 for the first time, they will attempt to escape from the area and a secondary, milder response may develop. The secondary response will vary between each animal as affected individuals are affected in different ways. SCP-8883-1 instances will generally respond by running in all directions.
Dragons and similarly-sized mammals will attempt to escape the area as well. The initial reactions to exposure to SCP-8883 will wear off after approximately 3-5 minutes. As with animals, these reactions can last an indefinite amount of time if SCP-8883 is exposed repeatedly. However, if the instance of SCP-8883 is not held in a containment cell, it is highly likely that the creatures will attempt to escape. This can also result in the matter of acceleration occurring within the creature itself, resulting in injury or death to the organism.
Should an observer be exposed to SCP-8883, the effects of the motion sickness-inducing substance become progressively worse as time progresses. Both symptoms begin in less than 5 seconds, and the period between the initial physical symptoms and the feeling of acceleration is usually equal to the period of time it takes the observer to experience the full effects of the motion sickness-inducing substance. In the event of prolonged exposure to SCP-8883, the subject is expected to experience this sensation for at least 3 minutes, at which point the hallucinogenic properties of the substance begin to impair the ability to make decisions.
